Social illness can be defined as an issue that influences a considerable number of individuals within a society. The examples of social illness which are always published by mass media are smoking, loafing and indulging drug and so on. This problem has brought about many negative effects to the people from the all walks of life. Why this problem occurred?  Do we point the finger to the authorities without thinking out the ways to curb this problem? As the saying goes, there is no smoke without fire. Actually, I think that the trend of working mother contributes to the rise of social illness. Below are the reasons why I said so.

 First of all, the leading reason is working mother can cause the children easily associate with bad friends. This matter is said so because if both parents work, their children will be out of their sight and free. As the maxim goes, when the cat is away, the mice will play. So, children may go out late with their friends and carry out anything they want. For example, children will listen to their friends’ words to do negative things like smoking and taking drug without thinking out the effects of these activities and indirectly they will be led to go astray. This is why I believe that working mother is hard to avoid their children make friend with bad people and this can increase the occurrence of social illness.

            Apart from that, social illness will occur when children lacks love from their mothers. A German fashion designer, Karl Lagerfeld has said a saying which is “The only love that I really believe in is a mother’s love for her children.” This quote clearly illustrates that mother love is an effective antidote which can solve problems their children face when their children feel sad and interrogative. If children do not get enough love and attention at home, they will relieve their unhappy emotion outside by doing anything they want. This will cause their mental unbalanced and behave badly. For instance, they may bully other classmate in the school by fighting and mocking them in order to relieve their emotion. Thus, working mother who does not allocate their quality time to concern their children with love will lead to the children lack love and easily involve in social illness.

            In addition, working mother can lead to an estrangement family relationship. Due to the reason that conflict problems can occur if there is competition or resentment because one parent is earning more money than the other. The conflict problem can also occur when they are under the pressure from their jobs. For example, due to the demands of the money, a lot of mothers may have to take a job they do not like. In that case, they may bring their frustration and unhappiness home, where it will spill over into family relationships. This will cause their relationship with children are drift apart and children will be scared when staying at home and they will prefer stay outside. This can bring about them involve in social problem easily. As the saying goes, practise what you preach. Hence, working mother that bring their frustration and unhappiness home and do not show exemplary behaviour to their children will cause their children look up their bad behaviour as example and the relationship between family members become estranged as well as cause the increase of social illness.

Last but not least, children lack religious and moral education is also a factor why I think that the trend of working mother contributes to the rise of social illness. A famous monk, Dalai Lama has said a saying, “This is my simple religion. There is no need for temples; no need for complicated philosophy. Our own brain, our own heart is our temple; the philosophy is kindness.”  This quote is clearly certificate that religious is a must for everyone to mould a good individual with a kind heart and good behaviour. If mothers do not give religious and moral education to their children, their children will be in the state of perplexity and behave in disorderly manner. For example, children will speak vulgarities, behave badly and do not respect teacher or old people. It cannot be denied that working mother will bring about the children lack religious and moral education and without religious and moral education they will involve in social illness easily.

By and large, these are the reasons why I think that the trend of working mother contributes to the rise of social illness a. If this problem does not be solved immediately, it can bring about many negative effects to our nation and us. In my opinions, I think that the fathers should also play their roles and work hand in hand with the mothers to guide their children to become good and useful individuals and prevent them involving in social illness. This would definitely mould many successful younger generation who will lead our nation towards the path of excellence in the future.
